IDR is seeking a Data Engineering Technical Product Owner to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Nevada. This role involves leading the requirements and delivery lifecycle within a data engineering team focused on innovative data solutions using AI-assisted tools and cloud-based platforms. You will work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into detailed technical specifications while leveraging cutting-edge data engineering technologies.

Position Overview for the Data Engineering Technical Product Owner:

  • Lead discovery efforts for data engineering initiatives by collaborating directly with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to define problem scope, identify data sources, and establish requirements boundaries.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into precise epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and detailed data flow diagrams for data pipelines, warehouse schemas, and reporting.
  • Utilize AI-assisted tools such as Claude, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot to generate and accelerate requirements artifacts, validating AI output for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain a comprehensive domain knowledge base including data models, business rules, system documentation, and integration patterns accessible to AI agents and engineering teams.
  • Own and continuously refine the pod’s product backlog to ensure data warehouse, ETL/ELT, and reporting work is well-sequenced, technically sound, and delivery-ready.

Requirements for the Data Engineering Technical Product Owner :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on data engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience in technical product ownership, solutions analysis, or data engineering within an Agile environment
  • Working knowledge of data engineering pipelines, data warehouse design, and cloud-based data architecture on Microsoft Azure SQL
  • Proficiency in SQL, SparkSQL, and PySpark within Microsoft Fabric for pipeline investigation and data modeling
  • Demonstrated experience in authoring user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation for data solutions
