IDR is seeking a Senior DB2 DBA to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity. This role involves supporting a high-profile enterprise database modernization project in the financial industry, focusing on migration, performance tuning, and cloud initiatives. The position offers a chance to work with cutting-edge technologies and large-scale database environments.
Position Overview for the Senior DB2 DBA:
- Lead end-to-end database migration and modernization initiatives involving DB2 for z/OS to DB2 LUW, VSAM to DB2 migrations, and cloud database platforms.
- Assess existing database environments, analyze catalog dependencies, and develop comprehensive migration strategies.
- Create migration plans, risk assessments, rollback procedures, and implementation roadmaps.
- Perform schema conversion, data extraction, transformation, and loading activities utilizing ETL tools.
- Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, and architecture teams throughout modernization efforts.
Requirements for the Senior DB2 DBA:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience administering IBM DB2 databases within large enterprise environments.
- Advanced expertise with DB2 for z/OS, including: REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, UNLOAD.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale DB2, VSAM, and mainframe modernization initiatives.
- Strong experience executing database migration projects from mainframe to distributed or cloud environments.
- Experience administering DB2 LUW on Linux and/or AIX platforms.
