IDR is seeking a HIM Specialist to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Dallas, TX. This role involves supporting a healthcare organization by maintaining accurate patient information and ensuring data integrity within electronic medical records.

Position Overview for the HIM Specialist:

  • Responsible for researching, verifying, and correcting patient demographic and identity information to ensure data integrity.
  • Handles complex patient record issues such as duplicates, overlays, and demographic corrections.
  • Processes deceased-patient updates and manages patient record merges and flags.
  • Reviews and approves patient portal/proxy access requests, ensuring appropriate documentation is validated.
  • Collaborates with HIM leadership and team members to resolve patient record issues and maintains the security and confidentiality of protected health information.

Requirements for the HIM Specialist:

  • 2+ years of healthcare experience with a related vocational certificate or degree or 3+ years of healthcare, business, and/or HIM experience in lieu of a certificate.
  • Previous experience working within Health Information Management, EMPI, patient identity, or healthcare data integrity.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic medical records and patient demographic information.
  • Excellent attention to detail and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to research and resolve complex patient identity issues using multiple healthcare systems such as Epic and Care Everywhere.
