IDR is seeking a Network Engineer. The role is based in Rochester, MN (Hybrid) and involves designing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise switching and routing infrastructure. This contract position requires a hands-on technical skill set and offers opportunities for independent work while collaborating within a broader engineering team.
Position Overview for the Network Engineer:
- Design, configure, and maintain enterprise switching and routing infrastructure.
- Operate independently on well-defined initiatives.
- Collaborate with broader engineering teams to ensure network stability and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues at OSI Layers 1–3.
- Document configurations and network procedures to maintain clear team communications.
Requirements for the Network Engineer:
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional technical work experience with a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or four (4) years with an associate’s degree, or six (6) years of experience without a degree.
- Strong working knowledge of the OSI model, specifically Layers 1–3.
- Hands-on experience configuring and installing Cisco switches — Catalyst C9000 series.
- Hands-on experience configuring and installing Cisco routers — Catalyst C8000 series.
- Experience deploying equipment at both the access layer and distribution layer.
