IDR is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Englewood, Colorado. This role is part of a high-stakes aerospace and defense industry, supporting the development of advanced military aircraft systems. The position involves leading systems engineering efforts throughout the full product lifecycle, from conceptualization to final deployment.
Position Overview for the Principal Systems Engineer:
- Lead systems engineering and design efforts for next-generation military aircraft within a new aircraft design program
- Drive the conceptualization, design, development, and refinement of advanced aircraft systems, structures, and integrated subsystems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, materials, and manufacturing from concept through production
- Support the full product lifecycle, including research, analysis, testing, certification, deployment, and continuous improvement
- Apply advanced aerospace engineering principles to develop high-performance, safe, and efficient aircraft solutions
Requirements for the Principal Systems Engineer:
- Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, or MATLAB
- Advanced knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and industry-standard mechanical design principles
- Experience or certification aligned with INCOSE standards
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense industry
- Proven experience leading baseline definition and maturation in complex development environments
