IDR is seeking a dedicated and experienced Patient Connection Authorization Associate to join one of our top clients for a fully remote opportunity. This role involves liaising with insurance companies and other third-party payers to determine pre-certification, pre-authorization, and medical necessity requirements for complex outpatient hospital services. Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Patient Connection Authorization Associate:
- Obtain pre-certifications, authorizations, and referrals via direct contact, payer websites, or insurance tools to ensure managed care compliance.
- Accurately enter authorization details and relevant information into EPIC, including contact names and conversation notes.
- Use critical thinking to identify and resolve potential issues that could result in claim denials, helping to maximize reimbursement.
- Adhere to our client’s policies and procedures, along with payer-specific requirements for scheduled procedures.
- Maintain a focus on delivering a positive patient experience.
- Collect and update patient demographic, financial, and clinical information necessary for financial clearance.
- Validate all required data elements for accurate account creation in Revenue Cycle systems.
- Notify payers of patient admission when required.
- Estimate patient financial responsibility, especially for complex procedures.
Required Skills for Patient Connection Authorization Associate:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Revenue Cycle or related experience in healthcare, with one of those years working specifically within Healthcare Revenue Cycle.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and EPIC.
- Solid understanding of how Revenue Cycle impacts financial outcomes.
- Ability to train and mentor team members and new employees.
