IDR is seeking a Tools and Pipeline Technical Artist to join one of our top clients in an exciting, unannounced R&D project. If you are a seasoned professional with a passion for establishing and improving systems, tools, rigs, assets, and workflows that enhance the creativity of artists and facilitate the production of top-notch art content, we invite you to apply today!

Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Tools and Pipeline Technical Artist:

  • Collaborate with the Tech Art Team and Engineering to build an art pipeline framework and artist-facing tools for Character Art, Environment Art, Animation, Rigging, VFX.

  • Quickly learn internal artist-based tools, modify and add new features as required; analyze and resolve bugs.

  • Engage with end users to understand requirements and validate desired functionality when tool work is completed.

  • Participate in team discussions and planning, break down tasks and provide time estimates for execution.

  • Handle constructive criticism, participate in peer code reviews, and manage end user feedback.

  • Troubleshoot production issues with tools and art creation workflows.

Required Skills for Tools and Pipeline Technical Artist:

  • 6+ years of experience as a technical artist in games or related industries.

  • Expertise with Maya, Unreal Engine 5, and scripting in Python.

  • Experience working with 3D character-based, game production pipelines.

  • Experience with and commitment to building long-term maintainable, testable, portable, and stable systems.

  • Experience authoring UIs within artist dccs such as Maya, Unreal 5, Substance, Photoshop, etc.

  • Experience using version control systems; Perforce and Git.

  • Highly proficient communication skills.

  • Strong critical thinking skills, particularly as it pertains to translating artistic requirements to sustainable workflow design.
