Position Overview for the Senior RHEL Cloud System Administrator:  

  • RHEL Server Configuration and Support: Configure, manage, and provide operational support for RHEL (7/8/9) servers in an AWS EC2 environment. This includes provisioning, patching, and hardening servers to ensure system reliability and security in accordance with government standards.

  • Virtualization and System Management: Install, configure, and manage Linux and Windows systems in a virtualized environment, utilizing VMware and Docker for containerization. Responsible for maintaining virtual infrastructure and ensuring optimal performance through proactive troubleshooting and issue resolution.

  • Cloud Platform Troubleshooting and Security Compliance: Troubleshoot complex network and system issues across cloud platforms, including SELinux, S3, and Docker environments. Ensure compliance with security standards, such as STIGs, and use scanning software like Tanium to maintain system integrity.

  • Team Collaboration and Customer Communication: Work closely with team members, project managers, and customers to provide timely updates, solutions, and support. Maintain a customer-focused attitude, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and issue resolution.

Required Skills for the Senior RHEL Cloud System Administrator:  

  • Expertise in Red Hat Linux and AWS Services: At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Red Hat and Linux RHEL (7/8/9), particularly in an AWS EC2 environment. Must have extensive knowledge of deploying and managing servers, using AMIs, and working with services like S3.

  • Virtualization and Containerization Skills: Proficient in VMware administration, including vCenter management, as well as containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience in managing and optimizing virtualized environments is essential.

  • Security and Compliance Knowledge: Strong familiarity with security protocols such as SELinux, STIGs, and tools like Tanium for scanning and maintaining compliance. Experience in securing cloud environments and troubleshooting security issues is highly preferred.

  • Scripting and Automation Proficiency: Solid experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or bash for automation and system optimization. Experience with Linux automation tools like Chef or Ansible is a strong plus.

Compensation Details:$165,000/year to $200,000/year W2. NOT OPEN TO C2C.
